Despite the fact that they replaced the belt 4 years prior the local mechanical workshop appeared uninterested in finding out exactly how badly damaged the engine was, nor were they interested in finding out why it failed. I asked Karl for his assistance. He very promptly persuaded the garage to take a closer look at the issue and motivated them to do the job they should have done in the first place.
